Congratulations on Merger of "Friends" and "Foundation"
published 12/4/2024
To increase efficiency, the Friends of ACL merged with the ACL Foundation to create the Friends of the Augusta County Library Foundation (FACLF) in 2023.
Many libraries have a Friends of the Library organization supporting their programs. Many libraries have a Foundation funding capital projects with big price tags. Not very many decide to join forces for greater impact. We did!
The Friends of the Augusta County Library was founded in 1978 as a charitable arm of the public library in Augusta County, Virginia, providing resources and programs not funded by state or local tax dollars as well as volunteers who enhance library services and facilities.
The ACL Foundation was founded in 2008 to raise capital for larger, long-term initiatives that would help enhance Augusta County Library services and facilities.
In January 2023, the Friends of the ACL and ACL Foundation were merged into a single non-profit entity, Friends of the Augusta County Library Foundation (FACLF).
We are a membership-based organization with members supporting the library by paying dues, volunteering in the library, serving on committees, and assisting with fundraising activities. Officers are elected annually from the membership to oversee organizational activities.
Anyone is welcome to join the Friends and help support our wonderful public library.
