Our Mission

The Friends of Augusta County Library Foundation (FACLF) supports the Augusta County Library System by providing funds, volunteers and advocacy. 

WE PROVIDE FUNDING

FACFL provides funding for programs and long-term projects not funded by state or local tax dollars. Includes:

• summer reading program
• year-round programs for all ages (from puppets to poetry, pickle-making, genealogy, tech support, and more!)
• Wi-Fi hotspots that can be checked out by library patrons for use at home
• long-term projects

WE VOLUNTEER

FACLF members volunteer in the library as needed, help with fundraising - especially the year-round used book sale, and work on beautification of library grounds. (Interested in volunteering? Email us at friends@augustacountylibrary.org for more info!)

WE ADVOCATE

The FACLF supports the ACL system, including library staff and leadership, with advocacy to State and County leaders,  representation and participation in relevant boards and committees, as well as with outreach to the Augusta County community. We are proud to participate in the teamwork that leads to a great library system for our county residents. 

History

• The Friends of Augusta County Library was founded in 1978 to provide resources and volunteers in support of the ACL system.
• The ACL Foundation was founded in 2008 to raise capital for large, long-term initiatives.
• The Friends and the Foundation merged in 2023 to combine resources and increase efficiency. 

Funding

Funding comes from Fundraisers (mostly our year-round used book sale), Memberships, and Donations, Grants and Sponsors. We are grateful for every donation - no contribution is too small! Thank you to all our wonderful community members who support the FACFL and our libraries. Your help makes a difference!

What We Do

Some of our main activities include:

• Used Book Sale: a year-round, ongoing fundraiser
• Membership Drive: annual membership drive held each spring (during National Library Week)
• Beautification: volunteers maintain grounds at library branches
• Provide Financial Support for library programs for children, teens and adults as requested by the library director.
